Misery by Stephen King

“Misery” is a novel by Stephen King, published in 1987. The story revolves around Paul Sheldon, a famous novelist who is involved in a car accident and is rescued by his self-proclaimed “number one fan,” Annie Wilkes. Annie is a former nurse who takes Paul to her remote cabin to nurse him back to health, but things take a dark turn when she discovers that Paul has killed off her favorite character from his book series, Misery Chastain.
Annie, who is mentally unstable, becomes enraged and forces Paul to write a new book that brings Misery back to life. She holds him captive and inflicts physical and psychological torture on him to ensure that he writes the book to her satisfaction. Paul must use all of his wits to stay alive and find a way to escape from Annie’s clutches before it’s too late.
